Background

I've always been rather intrigued with photographs. Photos could alway's take me places that I could never go; and still today they do. Images hold such a powerful force in society today. Without them, could you possibly imagine a newspaper or magazine?

I began to really grow serious about photography my Junior year in high school. I had recieved my first camera for Christmas the year before, but had not really put much energy into it until then. I attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY  during my first year of college where I served as photo editor of the school paper. Starting in the fall semester of 2008 I  began attending Kent State University where I am part of their photojournalism program. During the summer and while on breaks, I work as a part-time photographer for The Alliance Review, the local newspaper from my hometown of Alliance, Ohio. I really enjoy my time there and have graciously been given the opportunity to practice and advance my photography skills through my work for them.

The photos below and in the blog archive have been taken for various photo classes, The Alliance Review, The Asbury Collegian, and for my own enjoyment. I hope that you like them!

Arlington National Cemetery

This past spring, after visiting Arlington National Cemetery I discovered a photo project from National Geographic photographed by Bruce Dale about the cemetery. These photos were so powerful that the first time I saw them I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps running down my spine. These photos were that good! Anyways, I bought the book and have even brought it with me down here to college. You can look at them online and since I think so highly of them, I wanted to share these beautiful images with you all. Red River Gorge

This past Saturday I went with a few girls on my hall to the Red River Gorge. It's about an hour and a half from Campus. I was in such awe at the beauty of it all. We were only on one particular trail out of many. I was afraid that we would have missed all the beautiful colors of the leaves, but there was still a pretty good amount of color left for us to enjoy. I wasn't all that happy with how my photos turned out, but I did manage to get these three. I hope you all like them!

Constant Motion

I photographed the Women's basketball game last night. I'm still waiting to see which photos will be in this weeks paper, so until then, I thought I'd post this little creation I messed with for quite a while last night. I had my camera on a continuous shooting mode, so I thought it would be cool to put them all together in one. I'll try to post the published photos once this weeks edition comes out. I'm can't wait to show you all. I was pretty happy with them. Though, I'm trying to find another way to shoot basketball photos. I want something with a little more pop!

Stretch it...stretch it good!

Glide-Crawford, one of the women's dorms on campus (My dorm in fact!), has a gym in the basement which is in the process of being "remodeled". This is the photo the paper used and it was on the front page!

Fantastic News!

Some good news: I was asked to be assistant photo editor for The Asbury Collegian here on campus! I must say....I'm rather excited about that. Not only is this a great opportunity, but it's scholarship money as well. I had to turn in a cover letter and resume and will probably have to go through a sort of interview process. I started my training this past Monday though. I just thought that I would let you all know, as I don't get to talk to some of you on a regular basis now. Thanks again for all of your support. I love you all!

Some Catching up

Here are two photos which have been published in The Collegian, but I haven't had the time to post until now. The next edition comes out tomorrow (Thursday, October 11). I'm really excited about a photo which I'm pretty sure will be in there. I'll post it once I find out for sure. Actually, I'll post it it no matter what. But here's what you have missed: This photo was used along with a story about a new campus pro-life group. This photo was used for a story on the freshman-fifteen.

A Slice of...Asbury.

Here's a taste of Asbury and the community of Wilmore for all of you. I've taken these at various times within the past couple of month's. I seem to be missing a few photos. (I hope they weren't accidently erased from my memory card!) If I find them, I'll try to get 'em up.

Plucking Those Strings

I took this photo this past summer but never got around to posting it. It was never published in the paper, but it's a pretty sweet photo. I put E.S.Fetty on the bottom right corner because people keep stealing photos from my site. Though just putting that won't help much and what I really need is a watermark. Unfortunately, I haven't quite figured those out/can't afford one right now. So PLEASE...don't take my photos. If you e-mail me and ask I just might send it to you. But if you refuse and steal it anyways, at least give me credit, ok? Thanks.

Some New Juice

Hey everyone! I'm now a photographer for The Asbury Collegian. These were my first two photos which were published in this weeks issue. I'll try to keep this updated while I'm here at school, so please continue to check back from time to time. Thanks for keeping up with me and my photography. Have a great night!

"Skinny" Live and in Person at Day's in the Park

Both of these photos were on the front page sometime last week. I've been so busy with the whole college thing and so I haven't had time to post them. Better late than never I guess!

Up, Up, and Away!

What's better than getting paid to take photos from a hot-air balloon? Nothing. I got to take a hot-air balloon ride yesterday and take some photos for the Review. Here's the photo that was in today's paper.

In Print

I never get to show you guy's what my work looks like in print, so I thought I'd take some photos and post them so you all could see them. The post below shows all of the photos individually and gives a little more info on what they are all for. Have fun!

Busy Bee

Carnation event's have begun and so I've been one busy little photographer. All the photos below were in today's paper. To be quite honest, I'm quite proud of them. I put a lot of time and effort into all of these and I hope that all of you enjoy them. Starting from the bottom, the photos are from: the vintage baseball game, the Kick Off Parade, Glamorgan Castle Car show, Schaeffer's Diner car show/Smash-a-Car, and finally the top photos are from the Fire Truck Pump-In and Muster. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Bag It!

This past Tuesday I did a job at the Giant Eagle in the Strip. I was hired by them to take photos of this contest which they were hosting known as a Bag-A-Thon. Basically, whoever can bag a set amount of products fastest wins. This was a rather big event. They had amazing food displays, which were then devoured and lots of big-wigs where there as well. I thought that I would share some of my favorite photos from the event.
