Background

I've always been rather intrigued with photographs. Photos could alway's take me places that I could never go; and still today they do. Images hold such a powerful force in society today. Without them, could you possibly imagine a newspaper or magazine?

I began to really grow serious about photography my Junior year in high school. I had recieved my first camera for Christmas the year before, but had not really put much energy into it until then. I attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY  during my first year of college where I served as photo editor of the school paper. Starting in the fall semester of 2008 I  began attending Kent State University where I am part of their photojournalism program. During the summer and while on breaks, I work as a part-time photographer for The Alliance Review, the local newspaper from my hometown of Alliance, Ohio. I really enjoy my time there and have graciously been given the opportunity to practice and advance my photography skills through my work for them.

The photos below and in the blog archive have been taken for various photo classes, The Alliance Review, The Asbury Collegian, and for my own enjoyment. I hope that you like them!

A Continuation

Below are just a few more of the photos I took at the Practice burn last Saturday. These were not published in the paper.

Rustic Light

Being a photographer has it's perks, one being always having a gift to give. Who doesn't like getting a photo? I recently gave this photo to my mom as a gift. She really seemed to like it which made me quite happy. I hope that you all enjoy it as well.

Make Way

Thie photo above made the front page feature photo in today's Alliance Review. The other two photos were in as well. These photos were taken at the Louisville Fire Department truck dedication. The LFD just purchased a new truck with the help of a grant and so they had a little dedication ceremony in honor of it. I encourage you all to go to the Alliance Review web page and read the story to understand a little more about it. There is a link on the right side of this page. Just click on it and it will take you right to the site. This is one of the councilman drying the truck after it had been hosed down by the reitring truck. The truck was even blessed with holy water!

Sing it!

These photos were in last Thursday's Alliance Review. They were taken in a Baptist Church in Alliance, where a group of youth were rehearsing for Gospel Concert.

Watch Out!

This photo made it into the Alliance Review last week sometime. This was a girls basketball game between the Alliance Aviators and the Carrolton Warriors. Pretty sweet eh?...Carrolton won.

CHRISTMAS!

Here are a few photos from my favorite little guys, Devin and Trevor. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

She Shoots, She Scores!

This photo made it's way into The Jessamine Journal, one of the local papers around Wilmore. It's from an Asnury Women's basketball game in November. This is one of my friends, Sarah Yates. Here she is going for the bucket.
